Baik ah Camp ASPIRE!

I've decided to start right from the top. That being Camp ASPIRE. Have fun, cos this is gna be one heck of a long one. Dude, it's 5 days!

DAY ONE

Okay, so as mentioned in an earlier post, the first day was only for the Student Councillors. It started off way relaxed with ice breakers and several workshops but we knew better by the end of the night. Let's just say I REALLY am thankful for being in a Uniformed Group for 4 years of my life. It made things much more bearable and besides, more practice=higher tolerance.

Anyway, yes, despite meeting several times in preparation for the Election and everything, we never really got to interact with one another. Hahah, we're all shy lah. (But I dont think I can use that description after knowing them better! That's always the case, isn't it?) I mean, I only remember talking to people I already knew and hahah, Leo and I stuck to each other like glue lah! I like the workshops too. Cos I dont know. I think I learnt quite a bit really.

Oh yeah. We also played this Thing. Okay it was like four games/learning stations/whatever you wish to call it. Our first one sucked big time, hahah, we really screwed that one up, in my opinion. And you know what. I only stated that, cos we did sooooo soooo much better for the rest of the 3 stations! :D I suck right. I really liked my group. (: Though we were technically nameless, cos it was only for that activity!

LOL, yeah we still had the energy to take pictures despite being really STINKY and pretty shagged from the uh, "Healthy Night Activity" which revolves around the Track and Uniform Group style "traditions", so if you know what I'm talking about, good for you!

To be honest, I was pleasantly surprised by everyone's reaction/mood Post "Healthy Night Activity". I'm sure there were a lot of Non UG people too, even though yes, there happen to be several Ex UG people in the 20th. And usually, if you're not accustomed to these things, it'll be the ultimate bitch to you, and you'll get all sour and bitter and all "I fucking hate (insert what you will)" after such a session. Or maybe that's just me. Correction, that WAS just me? Lol.

But thankfully, perhaps because of Mr Phillip Tan's encouraging last words, also because we are a bunch of kick ass, "you wont get us down" people, all was cool by the end of it all. We were already laughing walking back to the "dorms" (which are really just classrooms in Block B, lol).

DAY TWO

Got to know my group, Enterprising, and man. We've got a pair of lookalikes! Actually two pairs. Later on during the race when Teresa and Cherlene both wore their grey caps they looked alike too! Hahah. Edward and Gordon are whoa. They look so alike, I had trouble -big time- figuring out who was who. But then I realised Gordon's the better looking one. HOHO that's a stab back at you Edward for all your suan-ing during camp!

Kinda clicked real quick with the girls, namely, Cadence, Teresa, Stephanie and Cherlene and of course dear Councillor Alex!

We did the ASPIRE Race which was wow. Tiring shit. Starting point, school. Let's see, from SR, we WALKED all the way to Punggol Park which brought back lots of childhood memories since I used to stay at Hougang Ave 10, Block 444 (hahah die die die) 5 minutes walk to the park. From there, we walked to Buangkok MRT, took 27, dropped off at Tampines Central and from there WALKED to Bedok Reservoir!

Oh yeah. It was funny cos like right at the start, perhaps 5 minutes into the race, or rather five minutes after walking out of school, most of us suddenly had to pee! Hahah, so thank god for the (dirty) toilets at the nearby coffeeshop! Which is also where I left behind my 1.5 Ice Mountain bottle full of Ice Mountain water not just plain water okay! BLEH.

We had to do tasks at each station and the one at Punggol Park, had to have two people blindfolded. So I volunteered and man. My eyes were sweating by the end of the task! It was sooooo friggin HOT! And it's not only because of me, mind you! We had to piece together a jigsaw puzzle, the rest having to direct us blind people and everything. Having to blindfold ourselves using those black trash bags probably didn't make things any better.

Our task at Bedok Reservoir was pretty cool. It's like. We each have a certain body part on our name tags right, (arm, head, hair, elbow, chest, etc) and we had to make this chain joining one body part to the other. Haha, mouth should just go to mouth and hand to chest right. LOL.

From Bedok Reservoir, we took 15 to Marine Parade then walked to East Coast's Macs where we took a break. Perhaps longer than necessary cos there were other groups that went on ahead to Changi forgoing their break! Overenthu, ambitious bunch, they are.

After the break which had everyone stuffing their faces heh, we had to complete one task. Btw, strawberry milkshake never tasted so good. We had to build a structure using only straws, 150 of them or was it 100, to hold a tennis ball 50cm above the ground.

WE WERE TOO GOOD PLEASE! Cos we did it like *snap*. Enterprising powerrrrrr! Everyone quickly made the triangles, stacked them up while other made the stand. We were rather proud of that task actually! Hahah, we were even "blocking" it so that the other groups can't see how we did it. :D

After that, we trekked ALL THE WAY TO THE CHANGI CAMP WHICH WAS A GOOD 8KM AWAY!

From sharing the 2nd spot with Elisha's group (I forgot the group name) we ended up third while they ended up 1st! WTH right! Hahah.

So yeah, we were the 3rd, out of TEN groups so good on us! (:

Okay, so we were all smelly and the first thing on our mind was to BATHE! MY. This I will never forget.

See we had like about 4 cubicles I think for about 70 girls to bathe in an hour. HOW ON EARTH IS THAT POSSIBLE?!?! Okay firstly, we're girls, we're more hygienic and hello, we have this thing called HAIR.

I knew it was gna be pretty crazy in the toilet so I was telling the girls that we should CHIONG all the way for the toilets! I've always been the first few ones in the toilet for each and every camp anyway. Hur hur. I'm a Clean Teen. (Fine, the joke's getting a tad too old)

So yes. Cadence and I made it! 3 minutes after we arrived, the queue stretched all the way out, wow. It was just mega long. Toilet was really gross by the way. Like how the drain or whatever is perpetually choked so you'll be ankle deep in grossified water. YUCKS.

So you'll be wearing your slipper when you bathe and you'll see funny things floating about. Like PADS and OMG slippers! Cheryl Lek's always losing her slipper in the shower! LOL.

Since there was really no time, I had to share a cubicle with Cadence and fuck. Things got way crazy.

The girls start getting impatient, everyone started shouting asking everyone else to hurry up. Then the girls bathing will scream back something like "HELLO. THERE ARE TWO PEOPLE HERE OF COURSE IT'LL TAKE LONGER LAH!!".

Cadence and I got annoyed cos we had to come up with some sort of strategy as to how we're gna go about doing this shower for 2 business. We came up with some sort of system, but fucking hell. Things started going crazy again. More girls shouting, my slipper almost floating away, my CLEAN UNDERWEAR dropped into the floor with all that EW GROSS YUCK water.

Both of us started "fuck"-ing (HAHAHA PEOPLE PLEASE DONT BE SICK) cos things went bad for BOTH of us at the same time! So it was pretty funny. I'll never forget this bath man.

And about my underwear story. I went commando, went back up and got a clean one. Thank God I decided to bring A LOT of underwear!

DAY THREE

We had morning PT! Which saw us jogging by the beach with the refreshing morning breeze in our faces! (: I kinda enjoyed it. But I hated the jog BACK to the campsite cos SOME PEOPLE just had to ego around and go so fast. :/ I dont understand why we couldnt go at the same pace we did from the campsite!

Okay, guess what. My memory's failing me. Wait let me think. HM. Oh yeah. High E. I dont know what they call it, CRC or something, but High E sounds so much nicer! Also did Abseiling and Rock Wall.

Our first station was Rock Wall. Let's cut to the chase, shall we? I MANAGED TO CLIMB ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP!!! A STANDING OVATION IS IN ORDER, THANKS!

I'm darn proud of myself okay. Cos I've tried like twice, and both failed so I guess the third time's a charm. OMG. It's so not easy. Especially when my arm power has like decreased X10 and I've ultra flabby arms now! Also how there was that accident back in Sec 3 when my SPOTTERS DIDNT SPOT ME AND I FELL ABOUT 2M AND I COULDNT FEEL MY BACK FOR LIKE 10 WHOLE MINUTES.

So yes.

Oh they said I was damn funny like how I move up there. Apparently there was this particular spot where everyone would move left and I moved right instead. I'm too cool lah. :D

After that was the High E which was quite lame cos the time allocation sucked and we could only do 1 station in the High Elements place! Stephanie and I had to shit, so we did and man. It felt soo soooo good. Hahah. I usually do that daily and to have not done so for THREE DAYS is just. Yeah. You get the idea.

Sorry Cadence for using up a lot of your toilet paper cos silly me, I forgot to bring a roll myself. I forgot to bring a lot of things actually. More like, I conveniently omitted out a lot of things. Hahah. Like I should have brought more sleepable clothes (COTTON!!!), another pair of track pants cos it's fucking cold at night, my sleeping bag and also a THICKER sweater not just a thin pullover!

You know, when I first sleep, it'll be so hot and humid and ugh, not pleasant. At all. So I'll be in my FBTs and a tshirt that's not cotton cos sch based tees all arent and I dont quite like it. But then, I'll wake up in trackpants over my FBTs, and my pullover on. Hahah. It'll get so cold I'll wake up in the middle of the night to don them on.

So yes, Stephanie and I thought we could escape doing the, crap, I forgot what it's called. The one you stand on the pole and you have to jump and stretch out to catch the bar. I did it before for ATF, but like I held on to it for a fraction of a second so not really counted.

I was whining to.. man. What's that instructor's name? The one with the the sexy voice? Anyway yes, I was whining to everyone around me basically cos I. didnt. want. to. do. it.

Recalling back to ATF/OAC days, it's bloody scary lah. Cos I fear heights okay, happy? ): Just climbing the thing and looking down.. whoa.. I remember doing the Red ball/tampon thingy for OAC. The one I had to hold on to those things only. And seriously. The bloody thing (pun not intended) really does look like a tampon!

I took damn long to do it. Anyway back to that pole. I hugged the pole for quite some time not wanting to take that final step up where the only thing I had to balance myself with was my own rope thingy.

YES! I remember his name! It's Mark! Hahaha. He'll say something like "Okay, I'll count to 3 and when I say '3', you jump! Okay?" And I'll scream "OKAY!" At 3, I wont jump and I'll yell back down "NOT OKAY! I CANNOT LAH!!! HOW. UGH I HATE THIS. IT'S STUPID. SUCKS LAH UP HERE. WOULD YOU LOOK AT THIS HEIGHT PLEASE etctectec".

Yes, I ranted. Even up there. So when I felt I was ready, I jumped and whaddyaknow! I caught it! I ACTUALLY CAUGHT IT! And I held on to it for like quite a long time okay! YES. I'M DAMN PROUD OF MYSELF FOR HAVING DONE THAT. :D Only two girls in my group did it okay! Even Edward praised me! He started off with some smartass remark but ended off with a "but I gotta say, even though (blablabla) *long pause* that was a good one" :D

Next was Zipline aka Flying Fox which meant a lot of slacking cos there was a lot of waiting around and you wont believe what the boys did! Gordon, Thomas and Edward came back groggy-faced. LOL.

Despite helping out pushing the trolley, I still felt like dozzing off. I felt so. I dont know. Like lazy and I didnt want to do anything, and when you feel that way it's hard to get high. And if you're not high, you'll feel very tired and it's just not fun lah kay. So I put on the harness, dragged along Cadence and Alex to do it with me. HOHO, Cadence was mega terrfied to do it and was semi cursing me on our way up to the station. Hahah.

I've done it before during ATF with Rachel! We were screaming like crazy and man, that was really fun.

When I was about to go off, the adrenaline started pumping, I became slightly more awake. Then off I went. And omg. WHAT A HIGH. Hahah, I was DAMN AWAKE after that.

Lastly was abseiling which hahahah. Was funny. Cos I remember really loving it when I did it during OAC. But I forgot how it starts off! I hate that part. It's so bloody annoying. Cos you'll really feel like there's nothing behind you (which technically, there isn't) and I was hell reluctant to step down! Leaning back was mother scary. But when I did lean back and managed to get off that thing, it was freakin' fun! :D High high high.

DAY FOUR

Basically this day, the councillors were grouped together and we had a lot of water sports!

We had a trial run for kayaking and Bob and I so sucked as a team! We capsized twice! LOL. Also had rafting which I thought we did well. (: Yay for Council Spirit! :D I really loved how everyone was cheering LIKE MAD, for each other! I loved the camaraderie and everything. :D

Rafting's not easy. With so many people on board and having to coordinate (or at least try to). And because my side, the left, had two girls, Sharilyn and I, it was admittedly weaker lah. It so happened that we had to steer a lot so they kept on shouting "LEFT SIDE PADDLE MORE!!!" which got me stressed, hahah.

And omgwtf, it was so squeezy and everyone wasnt really aware what was happening cos the only thing in mind was to ROW ROW ROW FASTER FASTER FASTER! Jaymond ended up sitting on me by the time we got back to shore. -.-" Somehow everyone tends to move backward? Idk.

Kay, then we had the Principal's talk! Yes, he actually came down to the campsite to give us this talk with his funky shades and everything. I love him man. He's too cool. He reminds me a lot of Ms Leong for some reason! I really enjoyed the talk. Sure, I was feeling sooooo sooo sleepy initially up till the point I had Pretti do this thing she does which makes you go back on to AutoAlert, hahah.

Right, after that was! The Ultimate Challenge! I did the kayaking with Santy this time around and can I just say that we really rocked for a girl-girl duo! (: I really enjoyed kayaking! Oh, from the Changi Campsite, we had to kayak all the way to the National Sailing Centre. After that, we had to go all the way back to the campsite, on foot, land whatever, but because there were several Permanent MC people among us, we walked back. Had to complete several tasks while walking back.

No doubt we ended up last, but I still think we did a pretty good job! Yeah, so maybe we could have done better. But still. (: Go 20th!

Also since it was the last night, we had the campfire too! Which in my opinion was pretty weird! Cos the campfire was left alone in a corner! I dont know about you, but I thought the campfire was the whole POINT of the campfire!? The fire's like the most important thing you know? Everything revolves around it! It's supposed to anyway.

Oh well. Anyway, still had a good time. Everyone was "baik-ing" around and wah! The Chinese boys can really do it well! Like Shawn and Gordon and yah the rest. Hahah. They sounded damn Mat know! LOL.

Friendship dance! WOOHOO! Hahah. It was weird, cos like girl-guy-girl-guy right, so the girls will have to be in front. As in it mattered. Whereas back in Cedar it's just a WOOHOOO *SCREAMS* everyone gets high and do the dance then get so close to the campfire and dont know what and it didnt matter whether you're in front or behind. HEH.

When Mr Yong (I love him. I think he really rocks. Hahah) asked for volunteers, Alex and I went up cos we knew how to do it. Then wth. Jaymond went up when he didnt even know how to do it! LOL -.-". And ew. I was smack in between two VS boys, the two Js. Hahah.

Campfire item! Thank God we didnt do what we initially wanted to. Cos every other group did it! So yay. Although ours was simple, nobody else did it and I thought our cheers were pretty cute! So yeah. Hooray for Enterprising! :D :D :D

After the Campfire, the 20th had to stay back to elect the Exco members and everything. I think. I wrote. Too much. Hahah, whoops.

When we headed back to the assembly area for supper, we saw this whole group of people cheering! At first I was thinking, "Chey. NJ people. So late already still cheering for god knows what reason". BUT WHOA. It was BOTH NJ and SR cheering together! :D

It was damn cool. Was contemplating whether to join or not cos the HARD WOODEN FLOOR was actually tempting (Imagine that! I was that beat hokay!) But of course, saw my groupmates there and wth, let's just join. :D

Everyone got high and it was insane. I love it. The SR boys are really on, I tell you! :D Then, Mr Philip Tan was obviously enjoying the show, the unity, making friends blablabla. Hahah. So he gathered us, and gave us like a "time limit". Everyone has to be back in their bunks by 130.

K, so then Jason (Gosh. Yet another J, haha) asked who had the College Dance song in their phone so we could blast it on the loud haler and DO THE COLLEGE DANCE!

Heh, yeah. We "performed" for the NJ people and awh. I really liked it. I mean, yes, James has no coordination whatsoever, but I still liked how all of us were so on, all lined up, and ready to do the dance!

DAY FIVE

Okay something dumb happened. I lost my bottle cap. So fine, I threw it away. Then I found another bottle so I took that. AND SHIT. When I drank it, I suddenly smelt this yucky smell. Then I realised that it was coming from the bottle cos the water tasted so freakin weird too. Ah. You know what happened? I drank from the bottle which used to contain kerosene for the campfire. I topped it up, so no, I did not drink kerosene. Though I did. As in the remains of it UGH. I ran to the toilet and rinsed my mouth for the longest time.

Then, the same thing happened to Alex! But this time I think cos she was using the same bottle? So yeah. "Mistaken identity", heh. Gross lah, the water.

Typically, the last day means Big Sweep, yes? Area cleaning, whatever you call it. Since I'm so lucky, when I did the lucky dip thing for our group, we got two of the dorms! Hur hur. Some people so sway, they got the boys' toilet. That is really the worst cos just walking past it, you'll be able to smell the stink! They probably pee 10 litres a day or something and have the hygiene level of negative 5.

So Enterprising had fun cleaning cos it was easy! Hahah, managed to have a chat/take pictures even, lol. Went down to help those cleaning the boys' toilet cos man, I feel for them. Hahah. But when I came in, the stink had already died down, lol.

Yeah, after that, camp dismissed and YESA. HOME SWEET HOME. :D

Bus brought us back to school, 20th had to stay back for a while, then later Bob, Jaymond, CK and I shared a cab home. Bob: Pasir Ris, Me: Tampines, the other two Simei, you see. So shiok right. Next time right after council meetings we can cab back home together. Heh.

Got home, chucked all my camping gear one corner, bathed, then Papa sent me back to school. Gah. Had to go to NTU you see. Follow up on Mr Benard Tan's research thingy for FAT PEOPLE. Hahah, nah it's okay. I'm secure (opposite of insecure?) so can. :D

We were so so so mighty shagged. Slept the whole way! Leo especially lah. Cos see, this fella here is like a baby that needs PLENTY of sleep before he can function properly. And needless to say, camp = not enough sleep.

At NTU itself, passed by the hostels we stayed in for Pre U Sem! Couldnt really see Block 66 but still. Saw enough to make me miss it. ): (But okay, follow up, maybe a post after this about THAT)

Inside the room, waiting for our scan to be taken, Herman, Leo and I had a good talk. Yesa. It's fun to gossip. Okay, so we didnt quite gossip. Merely reflected and pondered upon certain issues. Heh.

SO! After I'm done with it, Leo and I went home together by PUBLIC TRANSPORT from ohmygoodness BOON LAY all the way back to the East. The FAR EAST for me and the uh, NORTH EAST for him. Hahah. Serangoon Gardens = North East, no? Okay, whatever. Wrong or not.

You'd think that's it right. Everyone goes home and will just pass out on their bed instantly. But! *cue for dramatic music* You're wrong! See, us councillors are cool enthu people who're in love with each other. (Okay, maybe that's taking it too far, lol) We decided to go out for dinner! :D

Me thinking I was gna be late, messaged TimTeh (his name is Timothy Teh but see there are TWO Timothys in Council, so yeah. TimTeh's cute right! I like this name. Hahah) that I'll be late. Then hoho, HE was the late one and I was Person #2! And we, Yvonne and I, were BOTH late, so they were crazy late. Hahah.

Waited and waited and waited and waited. Finally everyone arrived. But shit man. Squeezing 12 people into a restaurant! It was insane and almost impossible on a Friday night, during the school holidays, no less. We went from Pizza Hut, to Swensens, to Thai Express to Pastamania.. Contemplated going over to Fish&Co. beside Park Mall.

HAHAHA. Guess where we ended up in the end! It's beyond ridiculous. KOPITIAM. Yes, we ended up at Plaza Sing's Kopitiam. HAHAHAH. Bet you didnt, like me, didnt even know there was one at PS! And I think we all had a nice decent dinner in mind. Lol.

It was a lot of laughs really, 20th's first ever outing, with hahah less than half but still. So halfway, more like after the meal, Lydia, Andy, TimTeh and myself excused ourselves to PEE.

But heh heh, we went to get Elisha his cake! Cos it was his birthday, you see. Awh, we're such sweet people, no? :D

At Secret Receipe, realised that we have no lighter! So Lydia and Andy went downstairs to get it while TimTeh and I chose the cake, and waited for it be packed and all.

When we arrived, Elisha didnt even notice the extra plastic bag I was suddenly carrying! Hahah. Presented to him the cake after TimTeh tried to light the candle on his lap without Elisha realising! He really is rather blur lah, that fella. Elisha, not TimTeh

And man. It got hell funny. Since we only got a slice for him, a nice good chocolatey one of course. And they kept on going about how I had a lot trouble making it, which is why I took such a long time in the toilet and everything. Okay, it's just a you had to be there kinda thing. But man. It really was friggin funny. I laughed till my sides REALLY hurt. Elisha turned even REDDER, and he was already burnt please. Most were but thank god for my Nivea Sunblock, I'm not!

Kay, so after that, met up Najib and Mariam cos see, I was supposed to meet them for Esplanade but like, because we took such a long time to even find a place to eat, much less eat, couldnt meet them there. ): I miss Esplanade man. Like when was the last time I went there?!

So yup, met Najib and Mariam at Raimah's. (Hur hur. I've been spelling it with a 'h' since, forever!) Talked a bit, then Tengku had to go off so only Jib and I.

When it's both of us together, I dont know lah, but the mood will be dman mellow and even borders on emo. LOL, yes emooooooo. We went to the back of that, uh, place in the field. I think it's a bin or something hahah, not too sure.

Anyway yes, we went behind there and there happened to be this pavement so wah, we laid down and stared at the sky and talked. But it's not as nice as Siglap leh. Cos it's too bright, maybe? Oh. And I actually fell asleep for like 10 minutes. HAHA.

HEY I WAS TIRED OKAY.

Yup, so then we only left at about 1? Walked to the bus stop and omg! DRAMA! I went to the toilet at the MRT station first cos I had to pee badlyyy. BUT FUCK. When I went out, the lights were off and the gates locked! I WAS STUCK IN THE MRT STATION.

But phew. The dude in the control station's still there. So he came out and was all "Oh. you were inside the toilet is it" in this friggin monotonous calm tone! ANNOYING!

So fine, I walked to the makeshift bus stop which is so incoveniently far away! Then what do you know. Waited and waited and waited. I think 28 just wasnt in the mood man, that night. Cos see I've taken it at about 2 before!

I got pissed off so I just took a cab home. SIGH. My money! With the surcharge and everything. ):

Kay, I'm done. Haha. How abrupt. Long eh?

I think. I'll blog like crazy today. Everyone in favour say "Aye!". Heh. Why? Cos I dont ever want to forget these things, though now it's still rather fresh in my mind. (: I've not even talked about rocking Monday and Tuesday!

(Oh and if you were wondering, since when do I align my posts to the centre, I didnt. It's just that html screwed me over when I wanted to put in captions. LOL. So whatever)
